The 6th grade students studied Native American symbols and design patterns, as well as reading the book EVERYBODY NEEDS A ROCK (B. Baylor). They put these ideas together to particpate in rock-choosing and designing. Each student painted 2 rocks - one for the auction and one to keep. Artistic Adventure
Have you ever wanted to visit an artist’s studio, share a glass of wine and see artwork where it was made? This is your chance. You and five friends are invited to visit Chicago artist Megan Williamson in her Wicker Park studio. Come for an hour of conversation and a chance to see her work in many stages of development. No previous art experience necessary.
Trained as a figurative painter and coming out of the New York School of painters, Ms. Williamson’s landscape subjects range from the Italian countryside, to private gardens, to sites where nature and urban infrastructure meet. Her still lives include a variety of traditional and non-traditional objects with compelling juxtapositions. Her work incorporates both a faithfulness to observation as well as to her own inner expression.
Ms. Williamson has shown in Italy, Canada and through out the US. She has had over a dozen solo shows and has participated in more than forty group shows. Her work is in many private and corporate collections. She was recently interviewed for WTTW’s Irish Chicago and has a solo show scheduled in October of her urban landscapes at the Madron Gallery in Chicago.
Megan received her BA in Art from Knox College, studied at the New York Studio School for two years, Yale’s Norfolk Summer School and Queen’s College Caumsett Landscape Program (and what might be of interest to this audience, attended Holy Cross Grade School in Deerfield, IL).
